The 'ber months are here! Signalling the end of summer’s carefree days and the start of a new chapter. September is not just the start of autumn but also a time of harvest, both literally and figuratively. This along with us being in Virgo season, the energy is perfect for refining our routines, grounding ourselves, and embracing healthy habits that will carry us through the rest of the year. Whether you’re looking to enhance your wellness, organise your life, or simply do something that feels good, these seven additions to your routine are essential – be sure to read till the end, the last one is my favourite!
Journaling:
Journaling is a great tool for checking in with yourself, your goals and generally how you feel. If you're not used to journaling and don't know where to start, you can write whatever comes to mind – sometimes venting onto the page does a lot of good! Or if you prefer, you can use journal prompts to help get you going, even a simple - "how do I feel today?"
Get Creative:
Getting creative is a simple way to open your mind, relieve stress and nurture your inner child all in one! Whether you want to get the old paint supplies out or experiment cooking a new dish, if it inspires you and gets your creative mind working, then it's worth trying
Create and Recite Your Own Personal Affirmations:
Reciting affirmations can give you a more positive outlook on life in general, but does it sometimes feel repetitive? You may even feel disconnected from some of the generic affirmations that we all tend to use, this is why creating your own personal affirmations can be even more beneficial – in our next blog post we'll explain how you can create affirmations that work and are personal to you
Read a New Book:
Pop into your local bookshop and find a new book, it could be one you've had your eye on for a while, and start reading it - this is great to expand your knowledge, improve focus and concentration or even just getting fascinated and exciting by a new story! If you don't want to get a new one, re-read one of your favourites
Declutter and Organise Your Space:
A cluttered space is a cluttered mind – transform any space that needs a little TLC, re-organise and get rid of anything you no longer use or need, donate things in good condition to your local charity shops, or even upcycle the things that you can!
Meditation and Mindfulness:
Meditation and mindfulness is something you can practice throughout the day, just a simple check-in with yourself and even breathing exercises can relieve stress and allow your to reconnect with yourself wherever you are
Self-Care Moments, What Makes You Happy?:
This is my favourite one! Self-care doesn't just mean sitting in the bath with a face mask on (although that would be totally valid), it's more about giving yourself permission to do the things that make you happy, treat yourself to something you usually wouldn't, spend time with your loved ones without thinking about work, sit in the garden (while we still have a bit of daylight!) and do absolutely nothing – anything that feels like you're caring for yourself is self-care
Remember these small yet powerful habits can make a big difference in your wellbeing, a great way to prep for the end of the year and close out on a high. Here's a few things that can help you implement these steps into your routine:
